My colleague, Seattle personal injury lawyer Mike Myers, has a couple of posts that talk about how statutes of limitation often differ between children and adults. I thought it was important to bring up something that Mike mentioned: under Washington law, children used to be prohibited from suing their parents for injuries. However, it is now possible for children to sue their parents when injured in a car accident and under some other circumstances as well. I agree with Mike that, even when you are at fault, you should make sure your children’s rights are protected and may need to contact an attorney if your child suffers injuries in a wreck.
