Four young men were killed in March 2004 in Clallam County when their vehicle left SR 112 and plunged into a river. Their parents have filed claims against the State based on alleged negligent highway design.

The claims contend that the deaths could have been avoided if the State had placed a guardrail along a curved stretch of the road.

Highway design flaws, such as the failure to install a guardrail or the improper installation of a guardrail, can be overlooked in a personal injury case and should always be considered in any serious injury accident involving motor vehicles.
